The Crime of Galileo is a tribute to the spirit of
scientific and free inquiry in the human quest for truth.
I wrote this one-act play in 1977, and it was first performed
in that year at the Institute of Education, Singapore.
It was subsequently performed on two occasions by the students of Raffles
Institution, Singapore in the 1980s.
The play takes many liberties with facts and is meant to be
a surreal rendition, though it shifts between various styles.
The play has always been performed within a surreal setting. The text is presented
with minor alterations to the original text of 1977.

I wrote this surreal play after reading a book of the same
title, which I now believe, according to information available on the internet,
to be The Crime of Galileo by Giorgio de Santillana (1955).
