Before I was arrogant and full of conceit;
before I spoke of myself, I spoke of my accomplishments;
and my deeds and my victories and triumphs;
of my history and my ways and my life and my virtues
I spoke of them before in ways direct, blatant and subtle;
before I spoke in that manner; before Siva, I spoke thus.
Now, with Siva in my mind,
since with the name Siva in my soul
there is only the mantra I speak
this is the better way indeed, this is wholesome
